We work with a public water agency in Northern California to test the response of their dedicated incident management teams to a variety of high-impact scenarios impacted the critical infrastructure assets that they operate, including dams, power generation facilities and waterways.
We recently conducted a tabletop training session and functional exercise with teams from across the agency to test how they managed the strategic and tactical decision-making in response to sophisticated artificial intelligence-driven cyber-attacks impacting key organizational systems and networks.
For the tabletop session we combined best practices theory with a tabletop exercise delivered using our Crisis90 platform to train the client teams in the guiding principles of crisis management and communications.
The tabletop helped to prepare the teams for the functional exercise, which we delivered the following week. For the full exercise we used our Social Simulator to test the teams and enable them to complete a real-time response in relation to an escalating cyber scenario, including:
On completion of the functional exercise we developed a detailed feedback report setting out our observations and recommendations for steps the client teams could take to improve their response in future. We also provided templates and checklists for the client to include in their Emergency Response Plan (ERP) to make responses more efficient in future.
