Becoming a Social Simulator Associate

At Social Simulator, we help teams around the world build confidence and resilience. Our job is to make sure organisations are ready for anything.

Traditional training methods often fall short in replicating the real-world pressure of a crisis. We’ve built an immersive, realistic platform where people can practise their crisis response skills in a safe space. It’s a place to test plans, try things out, make mistakes, and get better at communicating under pressure.

We deliver most projects with our in-house team, but sometimes we call on our trusted network of associates. They bring fresh skills, different perspectives and extra capacity when we’re busy. You might be:

  • A journalist or writer helping us bring a crisis scenario to life for a global client
  • A social media trainer or digital marketing specialist coaching a team on how to improve their online presence
  • A content creator who can help bring a client’s campaign to life in social media

What kind of work will you do?

We run crisis simulations and training sessions that help teams communicate clearly, work well together, and keep their cool in tough situations. We also help clients make smarter use of their digital channels.

As an associate, you might:

  • Roleplay a breaking news story in a simulation
  • Script or produce short videos for training
  • Help design and deliver an interactive workshop
  • Write social media content for a client’s public facing channels

The work is flexible and project-based. It might be a few days here and there, fitting in alongside your other commitments.

Skills we’re looking for

Our projects need lots of different skills. We’ve got plenty in-house, but we love working with associates who bring extra expertise, wherever you’re based. This could include:

  • Crisis, emergency management and business continuity consultancy
  • Digital marketing, paid social and SEO
  • Acting and voiceover work, in a range of formats from news bulletin to social/viral clipsInternational corporate communication and social media (e.g. expertise working beyond Western European/North American markets)
  • Video production
  • Social media content creation
  • Social media strategy & management

What’s it like working with us?

Our associates say they enjoy the variety, the creativity and the chance to make a real impact. You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive team who’ll value your time and your skills. We’ll keep you in the loop, pay invoices promptly, and treat you like one of the crew, even if you’re only with us for a short project.

Here’s how some of our associates put it:

Howard Gossington, Content specialist & actor

“I love that Social Simulator projects always offer an opportunity for creativity – whether as a crisis exercise role-player or a content designer looking at better ways to present information online. It’s always gratifying to see how projects give clients the tools, skills and confidence to improve the way they work – and to see how clients react so positively time after time. The sheer variety of work means there’s always something new to learn.”

“I’ve always been impressed with the team’s ceaseless desire to help, support, encourage and inspire – and also to listen, reflect and continually learn and improve. Each team member has deep expertise and experience, yet is refreshingly down to earth. It’s a wonderfully ego-free office!”

Aliya Mughal, Journalist & writer

“Working alongside and as part of a team who clearly love what they do, and do it with skill and precision, always feels like a treat.”

“I’ve been fortunate to work on a wide range of projects for Social Simulator and I love the variety. I’ve delivered crisis communications training to private and public sector organisations, carried out social media audits and been a role player in simulation exercises.

“As an associate you immediately feel like a valued member of the team. They’re a great bunch – knowledgeable, friendly and generous. It’s a really friendly, open environment with lots of focus on wellbeing and social interaction.”

George Williams, Video producer

“I love working with the team. Over the last few  years I’ve made dozens of video clips with and for Social Simulator and its clients. They are always a wonderful group of people to work with.”

“Some of our projects together have been very challenging and the team took on board my suggestions, making working in the field much easier.”
